September 22nd – 6:53PM (CST) – A week ago, we launched out of Pensacola, Florida with a sampling crew and a local resident and long time crabber whose business is being affected by the spill. Off the shores of Fort Pickens, we saw a cleanup crew digging up soil from several feet under the surface. Water and soil samples of the area were taken, results pending, but as usual, the workers seen here don protective equipment that exposes bare skin and inhalation pathways. We recently spoke with a toxicologist who explained to us that dermal exposure to toxins can have latent effects that might not display any symptoms for years.
